Missing James

Published on 7th August 2017

James was back on the TV this weekend having undertaken stem cell harvesting and another round of chemo. He is feeling good considering the treatment and will be back with us coaching at Mallory Park on Wednesday. We have got Jake Dixon coaching for us for the first time with Christian Iddon, Richard Cooper and Steve Brogan. I'm looking forward to meeting him and I am sure he will be a popular addition to the team. Our coaches were looking good in BSB this weekend with Richard Cooper winning again in the Stock 1000 and Christian Iddon going well in Superbikes. It was a difficult race meeting and our thoughts are with the friends and family of the rider who lost his life. This sport does put you face to face with your own mortality and constantly reminds you that time is short and we should be making the most of it.

I was at home having a break from amateur racing this weekend as I needed a couple of days away from the sport, with family, to reset and unwind. It has started feeling like a job this year as we add more dates and I become more involved with racing myself. Sometimes I need to remind myself it is supposed to be fun, not a school project. (Stolen from which film?)

Rachel Lloyd has just finished this superb pencil drawing of Davo Johnson which I commissioned. I am having the original but there are still 10 prints left to buy from a limited edition run. You can contact Rachel by email at schumi_fan@hotmail.co.uk her website is http://www.rlmotorsportart.com

I went to ride mountain bikes with Richard Cooper this week and we ended up looking for Kevin Costner and a load of baseball players.

As it is getting towards the end of the season we now only have places left on the following days. 5th September at Croft, 20/21st September at Anglesey and 5th October at Mallory Park. Book now at www.jameswhitham.com to avoid disappointment.

Bobble hats should finally be online at the end of the week at a cost of £20 with £10 going to charity. I will also have some at the days. Our team clothing range is due to arrive by the end of the month and will make ideal Christmas presents.

Good luck to all our lads racing at the Ulster GP.
